This apprenticeship provides learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to support pupils’ learning, development and wellbeing while working alongside teachers and other education professionals.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents

Apprentices will gain valuable hands-on experience while working in a real school or educational environment.

Entry Requirements

To enrol onto the Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship, learners will typically need:

  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and maths preferred
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A patient, caring and professional attitude

Applicants will complete an initial assessment and interview to ensure the programme is suitable for their experience and career goals.

Assessment

Apprentices will be assessed through a range of practical and knowledge-based activities, including:

  • Workplace observations
  • Professional discussions
  • Written assignments
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Practical assessments

Learners who do not already hold the required English and maths qualifications may also complete Functional Skills as part of the programme.

At the end of the apprenticeship, learners will complete an End-Point Assessment (EPA), which may include:

  • Observation in the workplace
  • Professional discussion
  • Review of portfolio evidence

The apprenticeship typically takes around 18 months to complete, depending on prior experience and individual progress.
