Coronavirus updates

04/01/2020 - Remote Learning Policy

01/01/2020 - Following Government advice our centres will only be open for face to face delivery for learners who are deemed to be vulnerable or are not able to work remotely.

In order that our centre staff can assess all learners and make revised delivery plans learners will not be required to attend classes (either face to face or remotely) on Monday 4th January 2021.

Our staff will be in contact with you during Monday 4th to confirm whether you will be required to attend face to face or online classes from the Tuesday 5th January 2021.

As of 17/3/20 we have reviewed the current position and advice from the government, please find below further guidance;

All Nova Training Centres Remain Open

General Advice

All learners & staff are advised to follow the NHS advice on minimising the coronavirus;

• wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
• always wash your hands when you get home or into work
• use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
• cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
• put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
• avoid close contact with people who have symptoms of coronavirus
• only travel on public transport if you need to
• avoid social activities, such as going to pubs, restaurants, theatres and cinemas
• avoid events with large groups of people
• use phone, online services, or apps to contact your GP surgery or other NHS services

do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

Self Isolation
If you live with other people and you or one of them has symptoms, all household members must self-isolate for 14 days. The 14 days starts from the day when the first person in the household became ill.

If you or your household become ill within the 14 days of isolation (and have not previously had symptoms) you must self-isolate for 7 days from the day the symptoms began, irrespective of how may days you have previously self-isolated for.

*report your sickness by notifying your employer and your coach.

Study Programme Learners
*report your sickness in the usual way, by notifying your centre manager.

Nova Staff
*report your sickness in the usual way, by notifying your manager and the absence line: 01902 364 819

For the time being we are taking a sensible approach, and we encourage you to take the time to read the links detailed which will address most questions.

We do not wish to implement severe measures too early where it is not essential or enforced, this is in line with the government’s advice to slow the spread of infection.

As of 16/3/20 the most recent advice on Coronavirus is as follows:

All Nova Training Centres Remain Open

If you have the coronavirus symptoms, however mild – either:
• a new continuous cough or
• a high temperature (above 37.8C)
– then you must stay at home for at least 7 days to protect others and help slow the spread of the disease.

Please do not come in if you or someone at home is showing either of the symptoms.

Please call your centre to inform us – we will be keeping a record.

Please do not return to centre until at least 7 days have passed.
