Bricklaying Training Courses

Course Description

Bricklaying courses are available to young people via our 14-16 schools programme and foundation learning for those aged 16-18.


In addition to this Nova’s Headstart programme can also help you with the following;

  • Training to prepare you for college or to get an apprenticeship or a job
  • Help with employability skills such as, CV writing and interview skills
  • Work experience placements

Course Content

Headstart is for anyone who has left school and is aged 16-18 or those aged 19-24 who have Learning Difficulties. As part of the course you will learn the basic elements of bricklaying that include;

  • Mixing mortar
  • Building single brick walls in a variety of bonds
  • Using blockwork
  • Pointing skills and various decorative bonds


English and Maths

English and Maths skills are vital for employment and to secure a place on courses at a higher level, including university.
We have a team of tutors who will work with you to achieve these essential qualifications and enable you to apply these skills in your day to day activities and work.

 

Entry Requirements

Must be aged 16 to 18 and you don't need any previous experience in the industry already.
Aged 14-16 you must have permission from your School and Parents / Carers.


Assessment

Continuous on-course assessment of assignments and practical sessions in Nova Training’s own workshops


Future Opportunities

Our courses are accredited by City & Guilds and are offered at Entry Level 3 and Level 1. Further progression may be onto a higher level qualification, Apprenticeship or employment.
